Garmin 2720

Ive had my Garmin 2720 for 3 years now and its still great. However, it terminates with a 2.5mm (female) plug which means I have had to use a 2.5mm 3.5mm adapter as my helmet speakers expect a standard socket. The problem is that it works for a few month and then the triple connector (2.53.5 3.5mm male helmet speakers) fails with crackles then breakups and then .. nothing

So, apart from trashing the 2720 (no!) what can you recommend? Ideally it would be Bluetooth but theyre all expecting a 3.5mm (female) connector?!

Perhaps I should simply strip off the 2.5mm plug and replace with a 3.5mm plug?

But before I do anything radical, can any of you suggest a solution which really works ?!

Thanks

John

- I have a 2720 too. I tried making my own (strip one end and solder on a 2.5 on a std 3.5-3.5 cable) but the quality of the connectors I could source and a failure rate of 100% in soldering the connector led me to the conclusion I was better off with a 'store bought' cable.

I bought my adapter cable from John @ Mixit. His part # PCGPS2 which has a 2.5 on one end and 3.5 on the other. 2+yrs on the road, no problems, no cut outs etc

- likely your Shack / Frys or other local electronics emporium has something similar.
