Routing to Bellingham?

Washington DOT showing much road construction. Looking at leaving Idaho via I84 - I 90 - SR 203- 2 then 9 to Bellingham. Any locals have suggestions? Doesn't look to be a quick trip. Instead of 9 should I just scoot over to I 5? I 90 has rockslide problems with delays. Any alternates? Thanks.

I went to college in Bellingham (too long ago to admit).

Stevens Pass (Highway 2) is much better choice than I-90 (which is just a slab with scenery!) Highway 9 is very nice . Chuckanut Drive (Highway 11) from Burlington to Bellingham is a short, but stellar road...imagine a miniature Big Sur.

Highway 542 up to Mount Baker is a cool road, though it just dead ends at Mt Baker. A poor choice during snow season, Mt Baker Ski Area has the world record for snowfall in a one year period 1140" (98-99)

hope that helps

Are you riding? Likely to be snow/ice at the higher elevations...and perhaps some at the lower as well.

Will be driving gas guzzler 4 wheel Suburban. I'm familiar with hwy9 and 11. Concerned about just getting there. Anyone know about SR 202 and 203. DOT doesn't address SR 203. Looks to be a shortcut off I 90 to SR2 then on to Bellingham.
