main seals

All this damn talk about seals on this site is making me nervous. Only seals I want to see are on the rocks at Point Hicks. I have never had a seal blow on a BMW, although I have never done over 130,000k on any one bike. Current bike is up to 80 thou.

Is there any one that can make me feel good by telling me they have lots of k,s (or even miles if they still exist) up without having blown a seal.

(yes I heard about the penguin that blew the seal)

I had a 2002 K1200RS and at 2 years 8 months and 35,000 miles the O ring seal leaked. They replaced the clutch assy and seal under warrnty.

I have a 2004 K1200RS and at 4 Years and 3 months 37,000 miles the clutch was fried. Too many wheelies.

But when I took it apart there was no oil leak. The O ring seal was hard but dry. I put in a new seal and clutch assy.

G'day Pap.

G'day Pap. You're still around!!!
I'm looking at getting another BM, and have found a 2004 US spec RS (cross between a GT and Aussie RS).
Bike came to Oz via Saudi Arabia!
I sold the 2006 GT as I had to deploy back to the Middle East, and now are going through withdraw big time.
Not interested in paying $35K for a new S or GT, so the 2004 may be the machine for me.
I'll start posting again if I get it.
Hope this finds you well mate, and not too cold!.
