New Owner Intro

hello, I just wanted to say hi as I have recently acquired my first BMW K100LT. I have been riding for eight years, and this 1988 is my youngest motorcycle! I got it from a friend in the states who was on contract work in Scotland, bought the bike, then went back to the states temporarily, but that became permanent when the contract went poof, as work is want to do these days. He was unsure if he could sell it for much on eBay, as it had been laid down gently and functionally repaired, if not fully cosmetically, so he was happier to give it to me, as I had just moved to Lisbon from the states and was unsure of how I would ride again.

I just had to get it out of the way of the guy storing it quickly, and I have to send him back the Hagon rear shock at some point in the future! So I went to Scotland, got it legalized, and have just returned from driving it from Scotland, thru England, over the ferry to France, across the border to Spain (on the coast to avoid snow in the Pyrenees) and home to Lisbon.

I have always been my own mechanic, with the help of the internet, and I doubt I will be very interested in taking this to the shop, even tho it is much more complicated than any other bikes I have owned, but that's half the fun, eh?!

this is me the first day I got the bike, on the way to get it MOT'd!

I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions around the forums, and will try to report any further adventures as they come about! Nice ta meetchas!
