parts left over

Just replaced the fuel pump on my 1992 K100, I used the NAPA replacement pump, every thing is working normal again. Inside the fuel tank I found 2 pieces of rubber about 2 inches long, they were just laying in the tank doing nothing. I'm wondering if they have some purpose as they have a special shape to them.........Any thoughts..........

Just do it, you can always change it, improve it, sell it or scrap it tomorrow.
