Handle Grip Tape
I had seen a earlier post mentioning taping the grips with racket ball handle tape for improved life of the grips, and comfort.
Since the brain-e-acks at BMW have glued the grips to the heating element you can't just replace the grips.
I have seen two types of BMW grips. The one on my 02 K1200RS had a ribbed grip that fell apart in two years and my 04 RS that has a hard solid grip.
So I found some racket ball tape at Wal-mart.
But it's more than just tape.
It's made by Wilson and called Soft Shock. It's shock absorbing.
It has a foam center. Comes in black and cost $2.50 each. You will need two packages.
For those of you who would like a thicker grip, this will work fine.
I don't know how much it will effect the heaters. It's 100 + in Las Vegas.
I only did a short ride with it this morning, about 120 miles. To wear in my new Avon's and the test the grip tape.
I feel it has reduced some of the vibration.
I have small hands so for the comfort factor, I will have to wait and see. I don't see it as a helper when working the clutch in traffic for me.
