Tire trauma

New owner of a 99 K12RS and am in a dither on tire selection. The PO has installed Michelin Pilot Sports which I had on my CBR929 and loved em. The problem is I don't think they have enough strength in the sidewalls for a heavier bike like the RS. Sooo, when fitting some new buns, what is the general consensus on tires? I will give up some mileage for more grip, still like to ride it like I stole it from time to time.

Cheers
Allen

There is no problem using Pilot Powers on the bike, if you like them.

I've had both Michelin Pilot Powers and Roads. Both are very good tires. The Powers were stickier and got about 5K out of them the Roads almost as good and I got about 7K out of them. I just mounted another set of Roads and will probably stay with them.

The only reason I question using the pilot sports is based on what I read in here. The author said that riding 2 up with gear is more than they are designed to handle. The pilot roads might be a good compromise.
Thanks for all the input, I am sure there are twenty opinions for every tire on the road.
