Talking "Sokath, His Eyes Opened".. Another Pirates' Tale

Thought youz guyz might like this... it's my not-so-epic tale of this last weekends trip to buy the CBX....and my run in with an unflinching reality.

This'll be in my next newsletter and may also run in an upcoming issue of Backroads Magazine. Hope you like it...If you don't... a full refund of your time.

PS.. That's not a stunt man.. that's actually me with hair circa 1980AD

That's a great story, Jerry! I wanted a CBX really, really BAD. To this day, I remember reading a motorcycle magazine article wherein the author described the "rheostat-like throttle to power" and "superior handling characteristics" of the bike!

...But I kept thinking... lessee now, four valves per cylinder multiplied by six cylinders... how much would a valve adjustment cost? So sadly, I did my best to squelch my CBX lust.

You still never forget an old love affair. My brother had a CBX. That 6 into 1 Kerker exhaust sounded perfect on his bike. I had to E-mail this story to him. Great reading..

Jerry, don't feel bad. You cannot go back ! I have tried to several times re: bikes, cars, and other pursuits. What you thought was the greatest was and still is, in another time.
Keep your lovely memories and go on with your life.

I fondly talk about my first vespa in Europe, going across the Alps at under 30 mph, sailing my old wooden sloop etc. etc..But, I would not try and relive these. I like my new GT, modern firberglass boat, metal skis, carbon fiber bicycle and ball point pen !

Ya shouldn't have cut your hair.

Just like Samson losing his strength, you've lost your ability
to wring every last ounce of magic out of the mighty CBX

tim-----still on the right side of the frostline

you can't stop the signal

last old sexy girl friend I hooked up with had gained a few pounds, had a mustache , surgery scars, and popcorn thighs. I swear she didnt 30 years ago!Me? hell I havent changed a bit!
I wonder just how fast my old CB750 Honda really was? 900cc big bore kit, alum rods, cam, barnett clutch, port job, it was fast in 77, wonder how it fair against my RS now? Maybe I dont want to know, might ruin a wet dream some night.
