Compared to the GT they are toys
Yes, compared to the GT they are definitely toys. I test rode the F800S on a race track a few months back. It was tons of fun (especially coming from a K1200S), the weight and ease of throwing it around was fun.
But, these bikes are entry level bikes and don't really come with any of the high-tech of our K's. They have traditional forks (that was an eye opener, forgot what a front end dive felt like at the end of the finish line straight). They are belt drive (no chain and no shaft drive).
They are using them to attract younger (and cheaper) buyers. I don't know about the rest of Europe, but in Spain it seems their strategy is working - they're selling like hotcakes.
