Model Year Changes

I have recently heard from a usually reliable source that the 98 K12RS was a model year with an unusually aggressive riding position- especially with regard to handlebar position.

Question is, if this is true, when did it change? Was there a new model year that altered the bar position?

Is there a good reference to BMW Model year changes on the web?

Thanks for the help.

All of the 98's and I believe a few of the 99's came with a lower handlebar
attachment. It was adjustable, same as the later set-up was, difference being
that the newer "comfort" bar's lowest position was about where the uppermost
position of the originals were. A lot of people were complaining about the lower
bars and BMW at first came out with the "comfort bar" as a separate item you
could buy to replace the originals. At some point BMW just made the "comfort" bars
the stock setup.
