handlebars

My new 2000 rs has, (I think) an aftermarket handlbars. What was the original like on this bike? Was it a deeply crouched riding position? Anyone know what's a good option from here? The ones that are on it make me sit too upright. I looked on line at Convertibars but they dont fit most bmw's. Is there anything similar out there?

Have there been any final drive issues, like the LT bikes have had?

The 2000 RS has adjustable bars from the factory. If yours aren't adjustable, you've got aftermarket ones, I believe. I don't recall when the change took place, but there are (again, I believe) two sets, one that came with the '98 that are more aggressive than the comfort sets that came later. The ones for the 2003 GT and later aren't adjustable, and are close to being the postion of the later RS bars in the full up position.

Final drive issues are few and far between, no where near the rate of the LT. Most commonly reported have been the seals leaking, but there have been a few reports of complete failure.
