Recall Query ...K1200RS 1998-2000

I found a notice for recall here
http://www.webbikeworld.com/BMW-moto...0rs-recall.htm
but can't seem to find any info as to whether this affected any UK bikes too..

Anybody out there know where to find recall info in the UK/Europe ???

The affected part was (16) in the attached pic.. the snapring that holds the whole thermostat in place..

YES just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean my oil isn't all going to blow out..lol..

My bike was subject to this recall. I'm in Canada and because of that am told the bike is to Euro spec - so I'd expect your bike is (was) affected also (depending on year). Some notes from a related post with applicable VIN ranges:

Recall Notice (11/19/99)
"The following items require immediate attention:
1. The sealing plugs in the cylinder head can work loose allowing coolant to escape. In extreme cases the engine could suddenly lose all coolant. (Affected VIN number range is ZA21803 to ZA22694).
2. Also, the clip that secures the oil thermostat can work loose. Under some circumstances, engine oil can leak and find its way to the rear wheel, which in turn can place your safety at risk. (Affected VIN number range is ZA20000 to ZA34226)."

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately mine is in this range, so I guess I'll be phoning BMW tomorrow..

Contacted BMW, and everything but the fuel coupling has been done..
Apparently the Motronic ECU was recalled & replaced and the cooling fans when the bike was only just off the shelf in 1997..

Anyone interested in finding SAFETY recall notices can find the UK ones here:
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp

And thanks for the info in previous-2 post
