servo switch?

Not sure if that is the right name or not. The rear brake lever is no longer activating the servo on my 02 K12RS so the rear brake is essentially useless. The front brakes work fine but when using the front break lever it does not activate the rear brake (or at least so it seems). Their is a metal strip that breaks contact with a couple of micro switches when the rear brake lever is depressed and I am assuming that herein lies the problem. Question is what actually gets replaced and what is the name of the part I need? Also, is it hard to replace yourself or should I bite the bullet and have the dealer do the work?

Thanks,
