Heated Grip question...

My Classic GT is coming into her prime (85,000 miles), and small things are starting to creep up on her. On my last big trip I used the heated grips quite a bit on high. I noticed midway into the trip there were hotspots on the left grip. Some of the wire is exposed causing the hot spots. The heaters work, I just need some kind of covering to extend the life until they need to be replaced. Has anyone come up with a kind of covering to take care of this?

Thanks in advance for any replies

Try golf club grip tape.

Ok, if the wires are exposed, it's time to replace 'em.

Otherwise, you're looking for something thin but durable. Something like the wrap they put on tennis raquet handles. Keep in mind, though, any wrap will thicken the grips a bit, which will take a bit of getting used to.

I wrapped my grips with Fizik Microtex Handlebar Tape. It's very grippy, makes the bars a bit bigger in diameter, which I like, and seems to increase the heat transfer.
