oil useage fix

You see I bought my bike new in 1998 and it had always used oil. About a Qrt. every 1000 mile. The dealer said that it was normal and with in limits and they would do nothing about it. So I lived with it till about a year ago when I started putting about a 8 oz. of Lucas oil stabilizer when I changed oil. I'm on my third application and have almost no usage at all. I know that this isn't probably a BMW recommended fix but it worked on my K1200RS.

No it's not normal to burn oil like that. Improper engine break-in most likely caused this. Too much heat in the beginning is not good.........not enough heat .....even worse.
