Tank Bag

Anybody out there have any experience attaching a quick release bag to a 2004 K1200GT? Do you have to remove the tank to find some good attachment points or create your own??? Thanx Jeff

I use a Wolfman bag on mine. Front attaches via a strap running down under the steering neck and fastex buckles to the bag. Rear attaches with one strap/fastex buckle that loops down under and around the front seat support bar. Pretty standard sorta setup for anything other than the BMW bag.....

Best,

Has anyone tried the bag that mounts to the gas filler ring? It's supposed stay clear of the surface of the tank to eliminate scratches:

Anyone know if it works?

Six,
Back when owned a K1200RS I tried a BigMak Airbag. I didn't like it. It flopped around in the wind and sat too high on the tank. I ended up using a Marsee tankbag with an OEM BMW rear mount.

For my 06 GT I have just started using the "GS" and "Daypack II" bags with the SW-MOTECH gas cap mount. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/

GT tank bag

Hi,
Bagster make a very good tank cover for the GT. I've got one on my 04 GT. The bag clips on in seconds.
Check out the site http://www.bagster.com
1 strap at the front, 2 at the sides which anchor easily between the plastic and the foot peg mounting plate, and 2 at the back.
Not cheap but good quality and they do a colour match to your bike.
Hope that is useful

On The newer K1200(S/R/GT), we have a plastic tank, so I ended up with one of these:

It's a Givi T434S. It works really well, doesn't flop around in the wind, and is a reasonable size (it expands to an unreasonable size if you need it). They also make a T430S which is smaller and without the map window, but it uses the same quick-release base. I don't know if it's suitable for your bike, but it's worth a look.

That's the hardware on the bottom of the SW MOTECH bag. I could sell you that hardware, snce I've gone to a Bagster on my RS.

I had it on my GT.
Liked the set-up a lot. Easy on , easy off, horseshoe mount looks proper when bag is off.
Aesthetically, liked the way the bag sloped down with the contour of the tank.

Traded the GT.
The ring and bag are heading for my new RT. Hope it works on the RT.

Not to undermine Pirate, but I bought mine from Twisted Throttle a couple years ago.
They have MANY styles of bags which attach to the same ring.

Use the Big Mak Diamond Space Case.
Easy fill up. Holds plenty.
Autocom, XM antenna, glasses, raincover, gloves, cable lock, bottle of water etc.
Small enough so no problem with visibility of instruments.
