Question Which Battery Tender?

I have an '04 GT and want to get the Battery Tender that plugs into the accessory socket. I believe I have the gel type battery and want to be sure that I get the right one.

Thanks in advance for all your help and assistance.

I went with the BMW tender

I have the BMW tender. I understand it's identical to the Deltran battery tender for gel batteries. BTW, I have an '04 K RS. I went with BMW because the difference in price was minor, maybe $10, and I prefer to give my dealer business if/when they are competetive. The price was ~$75.

If you go with the Deltran make sure to get the one for gel batteries and make sure you get the BMW connection pig tail. It was the extra cost of this pig tail that made the BMW tender price competitive.

I don't have part numbers with me as I write this but I can get that later if it's important.

It works great.

I have two bikes that I put on a battery tender every time they are parked in the garage. Original battery in my Ducati is 7 years old and still cranking.

Bob's BMW has there battery tender on special right now . . .its not on the website, but they gave me the special over the phone. I don't work there (actually live in KS now) so I'm not getting a kickback.

Chargers

Hi guys,

Do I understand you all that you don't have to connect the charger to the battery. That I can use the power outlet on the GT to charge the battery. Does the key have anything to do with charging. I have not use the outlet on the bike so I just took it for granted that it is activated by the key. So if the key is off you can still charge the battery. this is all good. By the way how much was the charger from Bob's?

Plug the charger into the accessory plug and watch the monitor llights. As easy as falling off a log.

I have a BMW brand charger. Even though I remove the battery during the winter this style charger (ditto with the "Battery Tender") is a low amp one that automatically runs all Winter. I put mine in my heated basement, and let her go. Myself, I will be using the accessory plug soon, as I took my battery out the other day for Winter and plan on riding more soon, F--- the cold. Was out 1 1/2 wks. ago, and ran into three (white outs) small blizzards, and a small size hail storm and was loving it.

Exclamation

Magellan 44, the new charger that does lead/agm/ & new CAN technology is on sale at Bobs for $98.95 . . . I did not shop around for lower price, but this is like $25-30 discounted off there normal price. Again, its not on the website, you have to call for the price. I asked if it was OK to mention on WWW boards and the sales clerk said that was fine.
