Dunlop Roadsmart

Just in case anyone was thinking of trying them, I just put a new set of Dunlop Roadsmart tires on my 03’ K1200GT and like them so far.

It is hard to make a comparison to the original equipment Metzelers because of the squared-off road wear handling effect, but I can say my new tires have a very neutral feeling to them. I don’t feel as if the bike handles as heavy at slow speeds and it corners effortlessly without the “falling into a corner” sensation. I will say that they ride softer then the OEM tires. It is possible that the old tires rubber hardened with age, but the new Dunlop’s glide over road imperfection as stable as can be.

I am interested in seeing how the dual rubber compound technology holds up on the K12GT. I am hoping to get some added life out of the Roadsmarts. I don’t ride aggressively so the information that Dunlop offers on their website about these tires seemed to be right up my alley. They are boasting long term and even tread wear, outstanding handling, softer ride and excellent rain riding performance (we shall see). I was just happy to see that they offered them in the proper load range for the GT.

Anyone else running these???

I slapped a rear on my '06 GT a while back and I must say, I am very pleased. I think I have around 2000 miles on it now and it shows no wear. And it does stick good in the corners. Anything has to be better than the Conti Road Attacks I had on before. Those were toast after 5000 miles.

There's a long thread on this. Search "Dunlop Roadmaster."

Dunlop Roadmaster and Roadsmart are two completely different tires (in case there is any confusion). Roadsmart is new to the market (relatively).

Aha. I read this and responded while I was on a conference call so didn't pick up on the difference. Sorry.

Easy mistake with similar names. As I rack up some miles, I will have to post again with some results. So far so good. I put on about 150 miles today and like them more and more. If they hold up real well... I will be very pleased with the purchase.

Keep us posted. I run the Conti Road Attacks and love them, running 38psi frt. and 40psi. rear. I push 7000 mi. a pair, when staying off the highway. And they are a very sticky and water pumping 7000 miles.

I just ordered set on this thread's enthusiasm.
Time to replace the factory Z4's.
Had Z6 on my RT & didn't use them to there potential or (lack of mine) & put on ME880's.
This not being a K12GT option.

ME-880's on an RT? Hope it was an old RT.

2000 RT !
Tires were still VR rated
higher mileage (about 8-10k on a rear)
better water disbursement (Rain)
increased load capacity (I pulled a UniGO)
