Helmet Noise

I've been riding a 98 1200RS with a stock shield and Laminer lip. I'm using a HJC AC-11 helmet and am experiencing a lot of wind noise. Does anyone have a better suggestion for a new helmet?

My SHoei X-11 is pretty quiet. So was a Shark RSI that I used to wear. Of course, I wear custom molded earplugs all the time which greatly helps.

I highly recommend a Shoei or Arai Helmet and a good set of earplugs! Makes a world of difference.

KRS wind noise

I have an '04 K12RS with a GT windshield and a laminar lip. I also have an HJC flip up and an ARAI profile. There is certainly less noise withe the screen in the up position, but I ride mostly with it down. I have found the HJC helmet to be really noisy and only use it for commuting. When I'm doing any highway riding, wearing ear plugs and the Arai pretty much solve the noise problem for me.

Helmet noise

I went from a cheapie (Arashi) to a Dainese. Huge difference. I don't wear ear plugs and was interested in the Dainese for the blurtooth helmet to helmet comm feature but since I'm riding by myself more than jnot, I'm really appreciating the difference in noise level.

Re:Helmet Noise

I recommend ear plugs and then just wear what ever helmet looks the best to you, I learned a LONG time ago that there is no such thing as a quite helmet, but it can be great (or bad) in every other way, so if you just wear ear plugs (I use cheap disposable ones that I use once or twice and throw away) you'll find your helmet to be a LOT nicer place to live in.:-)

I like riding with ear plugs in my Suomy helmet. Too bad they're not importing to the US anymore.

On my '04 RS, the stock shield and laminar lip put the turbulent air right on my visor. If I stand up a bit and put my head up in the clean air then things go quiet. Where does the turbulence hit you in your normal riding position? Changing your windshield config may be more effective than changing helmets. The quietest for me is no shield at all, but I'm ok with a Ztechnik sport shield.

I bought a Momo essenziale recently for in the city. It's really light and quiet. Still looking for a lid for over the road to replace my noisy HJC
