Removing side case holders

Can i remove the side case holders and place the seat lock on the mechanism itself?
I did notknow if it could be done.

yup, you can, if I remember correctly you remove a spacer between the lock and latch.Thats after you remove a few other pieces, about 2 beers worth of work.Keep in mind these brackets are the support for the rear luggage rack. Without the bag brackets you cant use the rear rack.

I guess nobody told me that... I've been using the rack alone. It works fine. There are 3 bolts that secure the rack to the grab rail. I wouldn't load it with a ton of stuff, but it's very usable.

Sure, I know, it's more stable with the support arms installed, blah, blah, blah, whatever.

Without the luggage holder, the seat lock attaches directly to the rear tail section, just like when the bike was shipped from the factory.

Thanks, i am not going to use the bags for a while. The luggage racks i have on are cracked and faded. so i will probably remove them until i get new ones.
