backfire with aftermarket exhaust

I have a Ztecknik titanium exhaust and everytime I let go of the throttle in a low gear, the bike backfires like a harley. Anyone experience this? Is this normal?

I don't get a lot of backfire out of my Staintune on decel. Check it out, I have a video of a run from 0-60-0 here somewhere and you can hear the result:

My Dad has the same exhaust as you and I love the sound on his K12RS.
My Ztech sounds a bit cheap.

If you have an air leak around the header to cylinder head flange, you can get a backfire on desil. Check the torque on your header studs.

I have a Remus Titanium Exhaust and it backfires like you describes. At first, I was worried, but now I have grown to love it...

yup, it has backed fired for the last 33,000 miles with my Remus. I tried a lot of times to make it seal better but it still booms.

It does it a little less since I put a power chip in.

pop bang bang

Hi Al:

I notice my Beast pops, as does Brand H, if the throttle is not completely closed on decel. My guess is there is a glitch in the software allowing a bit of extra fuel to squirt into the intake. Not being a software engineer (did ya get that memo?), I choose to enjoy the BMW 'pop music'.

PS got to ride my sister-in-law's HD Nightster while visiting the family -- what a freakin vibrating piece of machinery! The thing seemed to like 55-60MPH, but not much more. I was seeing double the whole time....but it's her favorite. Must be a girl thing?

Carry on!
