Tank Removal

I have an 04 K1200GT and want to lift the tank and change the air cleaner for the 20,000km service. Tried to undo the front bolts (suspect 8mm) that hold the tank to the frame but they are lock tighted and all you will do is destroy the head trying to get them off. Just love alloy fastenings! The tank is plastic so any use of heat must be controlled to the head of the bolt.

Anybody got any solutions to this? Will try a heat gun and place gasket material around the tank to try and protect and then proceed with caution.

Any smart ideas greatly appreciated.

You don't have to undo the front bolts, only the two bolts at the rear of the tank!!! than you can lift the tank of the motor it just slots in the front bracket.

success

Tank Removal

You guys are correct, got a bum steer off another report on the net. The bolts can stay at the front.
Thanks for the advice.
