Electric heater on K1200RS
Ok, I just had to try this and couldn't find any resource information at all on the internet.
I bought a 12v electric heater with fan from a truck stop. It is about the size of a CD , one inch thick. Wired a fused pigtail cig. lighter connector hangin down from under the seat. Got suited up for a ride in 35 degree weather, plugged in the little heater and zipped it up in my mesh jacket. The mesh allowed the fan to draw air. I can see all the frowns....lol. The heater enclosure itself is made of plastic and does not get to hot to hold. So I wasn't worried about it being against my leather vest. Here is the results, for 14 dollars I stayed toasty for over an hour ride at 60 mph. I do not! Recommend anyone else do this! I just had to try it...it was consuming my brain. I look forward to buying a full set of Geobring (Spelling) heated gear sometime this next year. The correct way to go! I ride year round rain, snow or what ever, five nights a week. Average about 15K a year on whatever motorcycle I ride. At this time I ride a 2004 K1200RS, with heated grips.
