oil filter wrench

My bike is a 2000 K1200RS and I`m having trouble finding something to fit BMW`s OEM filter. Any suggestions other then the one from BMW?

I just took the filter to autoparts store and found one that fits. $4 IIRC.

There are many different suppliers available online as well. I bit the bullet and got the BMW version over 15 years ago and still use it, so it has more than paid for itself. Have yet to test it, but I am led to believe it fits my new K13S as well. But if not, the price of the 'specialty' removal tool with the sheet metal screws ($35) would be worth it for me to avoid any issues.

I bought mine from the dealer, I think it was like 35. It is a good tool, does the job, sturdy enough, easily worth 20, would not have had a second thought at 25. But at 35 I flinched but got it. Now it gets used with no questions asked and I glad I have it. Decide how much time you have to 'search' or just buy it.

Beware the ones at the Auto Stores ... they don't always fit up inside where then need too. I have a BMW unit and a Beemerboneyard unit. I found that the OEM unit doesn't get along well with the Bosch filters (at least for me).

Just ordered one from Bob's BMW for $9.95 plus shipping. Not used it yet but it looks like it should work. And the shipping from there is very fast, might have taken three days. Bought some Kathy's Bags for the saddlebags and I think they arrived two days from the order date.

Eat dessert first.
