Hand Grip Opinions/Ideas

Hello All,

Does anyone know why you're not supposed to separate the rubber hand grips from the heating elements? I ask as my grips are slipping and thus already separated. The heater elements work fine and I'd rather not purchase the entire set of grips including heating elements.

I read an article that said you can cut small sections of bicycle inner tubes and put those over the heating elements and then use a little shaving cream to slide the grips on over top of them. This is supposed to provide slightly thicker grips, to which you'd have better leverage on them as well as it's supposed to improve the heating of the grips as well. I assume that once the shaving cream dries, they'd also be stuck like glue again.

Thoughts, opinions, ideas?

Thanks,
John
