Funny aint it, in the UK the compulsory wearing of helmets came in in the early 70's. A legendary figure called Fred Hill campaigned tirelessly against this law refusing to wear a helmet ever and refusing to pay the fines he regularly got. He recieved numerous prison sentences for not paying the fines the last of which was in 1984, sadly he passed away in prison standing up for our rights.
freds reason was never against wearing helmets per se, but being told you must wear one. MAG ( Motorcycle Action Group)of which Fred was a staunch member still campaigns for the voluntary wearing of helmets on the basis that its the thin end of the wedge and eventually Politicians will get their way "PROTECTING" us from ourselves by maybe even banning motorcycles eventually.
I dont think I could ever ride without a helmet even if I had the choice, but I salute those who stand up for the option.
God Bless you Fred.
