Greetings from Pinehurst NC

Hello all. I'm new to this forum and I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dino and I'm an Auto Tech by trade, with a bit of motorcycle tech work thrown in. I specialize in European cars but I can work on anything. One of our customers has a Jaguar XK-8 and a Maserati Coupe that I work on and they also owned a 2002 BMW K 1200 RS that I worked on.

The bike needed some TLC and regular maintenance at 22K miles so last year I looked it over and replaced the following:
Head temp sensor
Front brake line
Thermostat
Coolant flush
Oil change
Brake fluid flush
R&R ignition coil
R&R spark plugs
R&R heated grips
R&R battery

I did quite a bit of work on this machine with the help of the Clymer manual and I learned a lot about the bike along the way.

So, this guy lost interest in the bike... he put it up for sale at $7000 and got no responses. He recently lowered the price to $5000 and had a few nibbles but no sale. Last Friday he came to get the bike to update the registration and we got to talking. Long story short, I bought the bike, 100% owner financed.

I drove it home Friday afternoon which was only my third time on the bike and now I'm in love!

I've always loved BMW cars, owned a few, and I had a brother (deceased) that had a BMW motorcycle shop in the 80's in Valdosta GA. I always loved his bikes and longed to own a BMW motorcycle one day. Well, that day has come...

I went out yesterday on a trip to the parts store for a new H7 low beam bulb. Overcast skies, mild temperature, nice. On the way home I decided to take the "twisty" way back. Just as I turned on to the secondary road I felt a sprinkle of rain. No worries I thought... well, within the next five minutes it started really raining. It turned into our first rain ride! Didn't get too wet, and it was like a christening. Cheers!
