Grease Nipple, Question answered Thanks.

Hi All

I have just serviced the 99 K1200RS, Oil & Filter, Fuel filter and spark plugs. When the right hand (rear shock side) fairing was off I noticed what I think is a long cable like thing with a grease nipple on the end which heads back to the rear suspension I think.

What do you think it is for?

If it is a grease nipple how much grease should I attempt to put in there?

On some bikes it is alright to allow clean grease to come out of the bearing, on others just enough grease to do the job without popping the seals.

Your advice please.

K -Bikes have their clutch slave buried inside the bowels of the clutch housing and it would be impossible to access a bleed nipple for the clutch hydraulics if they fitted it on the slave cylinder where you would normally put it.

So they connected a short length of hose to the clutch slave and put a bleed nipple on the end of it . IT IS NOT A GREASE NIPPLE.

The only time you would need it, would be if you flushed out the clutch system (opened the bleed nipple) then replaced with new fluid and needed to re-bleed the clutch.

A Clymer service manual from Amazon is well worth the money for these bikes.

Thanks for clearing that up . I've got a clymer manual, but I was looking in the rear suspension/swing arm section. DOH
