Anyone know what this grub screw is for?

Just outboard of #1 exhaust and just inside the timing cover.Does it control the right leading edge of the lower cam chain tensioner? Mine is not tight, should it be?

I don't know about that one specifically, but BMW usually uses plugs like this to seal an oil drilling. I would remove it, clean it and the hole, and Loctite it.
