I want to install new handlebar ends on my '99 K RS. I bought a new aftermarket pair of aluminum with carbon fiber barends and cut a circular size hole with an exacto knife of the grip to access the bar opening. It seems that the internal plastic throttle collar extends about an inch and a quarter past the actual handlebar tube, The problem is that the bar end will be touching the end of the throttle collar with no allowable clearance and the throttle will be dangerously effected. Any suggestions on how to do this?
Also the bar end plastic piece that fits into the handlebar tube is too thick? It's designed for a 7/8" handlebar tube. Any suggestions on how to reduce the girth of this piece? It is designed to expand with tension once the bolt is tightened and the nut pinches it. I thought either of using a course grit sand paper or using a dremel tool to shave it down?
