Broken throttle cable K1200RS

So my throttle cable just snapped on my 1997 K1200rs. Just ordered up a new one from Motoworks but am unsure as to how the replacement procedure goes. As far as I can see it's fairly easy at the handlebar, just one screw to take apart the twistgrip assembly. I'm guessing the left hand side of the fairing has to come off to attach the other end, or is there a way to do it without removing it? I wondered if the connection is accessible through the black 'gills' on the side, if so is there a simple way to get that off?

Cheers for any help!

Sorry, you really have to regard a broken throttle cable as a workshop job, not side of the road repair. Do you have a workshop manual or a copy of the Clymer manual (cheap off Amazon)?

You should read it because there are important aspects to the amount of free play specified and cruise control if you have it fitted.

You will need to remove the left side plastics to get access to the throttle bodies. Because the throttle rail end is a fiddle to get to, it is also a good idea to lift off the air box complete with the rubber stub connectors. It must go back with the screw hose clamps not fouling on the throttle rail.
