Smile Brake Bleed Test report

I just had the bleed test done by my dealer for the 6,000 mi. service.
It provides some very interesting info.
In 7,095mi. the ignition was switched on for 139.25 hours, meaning an average speed of just over 50mph for the mileage.
I used the front brake for 7:13 hr/min. and the rear for 9:42 hr/min.
I wonder what else this thing knows about me????

I assume if you used the rear brake that much that you must have a newer bike with linked brakes? Note that on the new site everybody's profile is blank so I can't look to see what bike you have or where you live. Cheers, Jerry

I wonder if it records the same thing as the computer in a car? Those things record so much information that they can use the information during an investigation when you've been in an accident.

I have a '04 K1200RS. I also think a reason for the longer rear brake time is the rear brake would switch stick "on" for a while after releasing the brake. This resulted from a tip-over. I found that the flat spring on the micro switch was slightly bent. When I straightened it , end of problem. It will be interesting to see the brake "on" time at the next bleed test.

Any Idea how much it costs to have them plug in their big brother machine of doom? Im actually curious because my bike came from unknown origins and it might be a good idea to have that looked into, once I get it running to a point to make it over to the dealer.

It cost me $150.00 to finish up the 6,000mi. service(I did most of it). That is for 2 hours labor, this is where the computer readouts are done. I wish I had gotten a printout for the MoTronic also(and I have NO idea whats on that). I would guess that information would be worth $75.00 to me if I were buying a bike.

They have all the engine/frame serial numbers in the chip and some first registration dealer details also. So I guess if you unwittingly buy a stolen bike, you'll find out on the first service. Don't know what happens if you replace the ECU. But I bet the new one won't work until the dealer has accessed it and transferred the old bike data.

My two cents is the rear time is normal...I know personally I have sat on the rear brake at various times (eg. waiting in slow go traffic, parking lots) during slow speed manuvers. Very interesting stuff...I had no idea the computer caputured all that stuff. I go for the my annual and 12k service next tuesday so I will ask for the data (and hopefully a print out as well).

I still have to find out how actual bleed test works ie: control pressure/brake pressure on pg. 2 of the test report.
See if you can get the MoTronic readout also along with an explanation of what info it contains.
