What type of plating or finish is on this part?

When I clean this, the yellow-goldish stuff just comes off.

I'd like to have this re-plated, but I don't know what it is.

Calling the plating shops isn't helpful, they can't guess over the phone.

You must be deep into a restoration to have pulled that part out of the fuel tank assembly! Show us the finished product when you get it back.

I got lazy when I had to deal with the minor surface rust that gets inside around the fuel cap area.. plugged up the tank and sprayed the whole inner area with rust-converter primer, then matte black.
Temp fix.... but will probably outlast me. Nice to know it can be replated if doing a resto though.
