Side Case Key

Just picked up a K1200RS. Should my ignition key also unlock my side cases?

No, it should have a separate key for the side bags.

My ignition key is the same as my side cases. Unless someone put different cases on the bike than what it came with from the factory, yours should be the same too.
lljanssen and mycough like this.

It depends upon how the side cases were ordered. They are not standard on K1200RS's. If the cases were ordered from BMW with the cases, they will use the same key as the ignition. If the cases were installed by the dealer or obtain afterwards, they generally will use a different key.

The cases can be re-keyed: that's what I did with mine.

Mine matched too. One key fits all if the bags came with bike from factory.
