Transmission question

I bought a 2002 k1200rs for cheap in January. I finally got around to fixing the noisy bearing in the tranny. My question is why does BMW use sealed bearings in the tranny?
As a motorcycle mechanic I've worked a lot on Japanese and Merican bikes and they all have open, not sealed, bearings in any enclosed oil bath application. I.e. engine, transmission, differential etc.
Would it not be better with bearings running in the transmission oil?

Special transmission bearings.Spec TM(?)Not sealed altough they do look sealed,oil will still lube them.Sealing is only to prevent metallic bits from going into the bearings.

Do not use regular RS spec sealed bearings in a BMW transmission.

I just bought some NTN 6205 LU Bearings. Have you seen this type of bearing fail prematurely? Do you know what the difference is between the TM and a regular sealed bearing?

I just told you what the difference is.Bad idea running LU or RS as they are the same type of seal but with different manufacturer's designation. Gear lube will not circulate through.

As for seeing premature failures? GS guys got that one years ago.DO NOT use anything but special transmission bearings TM spec.

OK, guess I wasn't reading it right. Gotta say I really hate that, cause those TM really are pricey. And at least a couple of weeks out for me in Mexico.
The bearing that failed was the one right next to first gear on the main shaft, maybe a previous owner was hotdogging it or doing wheelies and burnouts.
