2002 RS... smell of burning rubber

So, as much as I wish it was because I was riding so awesome I was smoking the tires off of it....

Bike is new to me. Has 39k on the clock. I've never owned a BMW or any nice bike before.

After about 30-45 min of riding and I stop, I smell burnt rubber. The smell seems to be focused around the exhaust. I don't see any smoking wires under the seat, melted plastics, rubbing tire or burnt heal on my boots.

Is this normal? Am I just going crazy?

I'm taking it in for service this week to have it looked over and fluids changed, but want to have an idea of what it could be first.

Thanks

Bits & pieces of rubber from the smoked tires on top of the catalytic converter!

That is if you haven't smoked the driveshaft rubber dampener?:surprise
