Buy a set of torx bits/drivers and enjoy the better bite that torx gives you. I just changed brake rotors and the brake rotor bolts on my 95 were about to strip out. I noticed the new ones were changed to torx and think that is a good thing. Torx was an upgrade to the old fashioned allen head to keep it from stripping out.

Unfortunately, the ABS ring is attached to the rotor with old fashioned allen screws and I stripped the head out of two of them...

Torx bits aren't expensive.

Good luck,
Jerry

German engineering theory

Don't use one part where seven will do. Assemble so to one part can be removed without removing all seven.

I am not fond of the oil change on the beemer so I bought a lift from Harbor Freight thinking it would be easier and guess what - it is easier to lay on the ground and do it than on the lift. The lift does make tire changing easier.

I still have 17 oil filters left for the beemer

Jeez, I need just one Torx bit in an electric screwdriver (to drop the engine "spoiler", leaving the side panels, etc. in place.)

Smile Really not all that bad....

dropping the belly plastic doesn't really take that long......an oil change usually doesn't take much longer than a half hour. I love the looks of the tupperware....it is worth the pain at the time removal when needed. Speaking of which, I'm going to remove it tomorrow to install a new horn....but that is another thread....

Some one on the last site cut out the lower shroud just for that reason. They even had a template. I've done it enough times that it no longer is a pain in the ass.

oil changing breeze!

I think there is no problem with torx screws... just another set of drivers for my tool box. Can't complain about having more tools - uuuuggghhh, ugghhh!! Changing the oil is much easier than a car and with the center stand - not a problem. Although, that lift sounds enticing!

Angry Oil Change

If you think you hate Germans after the oil change, wait until you change the air filter.
