Cee Bailey's headlight protector

OK, the first time I saw one of the headlight protectors that Cee Bailey offers I was a little skeptical. Thought it was overkill. The bike I purchased had many farkles and the headlight protector was one of them. I really thought that it was more for looks than for function. On a recent ride, I was in the process of passing a dump truck when I heard a thump. At the time, I suspected that a rock flew out of the truck or it had kicked one up and it hit the belly pan. Little did I know until I got home and happened to walk around the bike and found the following: and looking a bit closer you can see where the rock hit:
The good news is that the headlight was saved with not a scratch on it. The protector did it's job and considering the replacement cost of the headlight assembly, is cheap insurance for a busted headlight.

I also have one of those. I was a little annoyed by the reflection that it causes in the windscreen. After I saw your rock contact, I'm not annoyed anymore.

ps. Looks like it saved the nosepiece too!!

better function or better looking

I'm sure the Pirates Product is fine, but I don't think it would have stopped the rock that hit mine. The velcro does stand off a bit from the surface of the headlight, but in my situation it possibly helped. By the way, I told Cee Bailey about what happened and they are shipping me a replacement-I didn't ask nor expect it either.

If Bailey is good enough to send a new one for free. You should send the old one back along with a testimonial letter as to the product and how stand-up Cee Bailey is.

yep

That is exactly what I did-I forwarded them the images and offered to return it and invited them to use my story and images. They said it was not necessary and were glad to hear that it had performed as designed. Very good customer support!

good post

I got the protector from C Bailey and your story is great. Where in Texas do you live? We're thinking of retiring to Alpine area.

Where in Texas

I live just West of the "metroplex" (Fort Worth/Dallas). Alpine is a very pretty part of Texas-lots of great roads and wide vistas. From what I understand, land is still relatively cheap there. And welcome to Texas!
