Pannier Rivets

Just having my pannier lids painted and having had to drill out the rivets to get the lids off I am wanting to buy some replacement rivets. My dealer has quoted me £ 23.00, nearly $50.00 for 2 sets of rivets , about 8 actual rivets, for the BMW parts, what a rip off.

However although I have checked the diameter at 4mm I can't be sure on the original length to if I can get some regular ones from an internet hardware store.

It seems that 4mm at around 20 -25 mm long is quite an unusual rivet size and am having some difficulty locating any.

Anybody advise

regards Nigeldav

I went to the hardware store and bought some 4mm bolt, washers, and lock (nylon-insert) nuts. Screw head is on the outside, and anyone using a screwdriver to get in is just going to spin everything in place.

If you're interested in adding city lids, the hardware comes with them!

I used the 4mm bolts also. It also makes easy remove to switch to my city lids.
