Question 03 K1200GT Idle adjust

Hey All,

New to forum, Y'all have great taste in bikes, here's dumb question Du Joir.

Have Just changed oil & radiator fluid on this fine horse of a K1200, 21k miles, change oil every 3k, treat it real nice, notice now my idle speed now fluctuates between 1050 and 1450 rpms, sometimes a slight throttle twist brings it back down to around 1100, idled fine at 1100 rpms before fluid change.

Is there an externally reachable idle adjust? anybody experience this issue? How did you deal with it?

Thanks in advance my new friends

No adjustment, ECU attempts to maintain the idle at 1050 in its control loop. If it's not right, something is wrong e.g sticking throttle cable, air leaks around input stubs, air box, O2 sensor, maybe valve clearances if badly out and not checked for a while. When you turn off the throttle (motor stopped) you can usually hear a faint 'click' as the throttle slides bottom in the bodies. Check you have plenty of free play in the throttle lock to lock. It's more than you might think, compared to other bikes. Have you still got the heavy throttle? If somebody has slacked off the return springs, then there may be insufficient tension left to overcome the cable friction.
