Angry Warranty work refused??

Hey guys,

Re: my 2003 GT....

Thanks for your advice below, I contacted BMW-North America and they refused to cover it under warranty because the bike is 7+ months out of calandar warrnty..., a bike with 10,450 miles and I have to replace my clutch assembly ay my cost!!!

Still love my bike, but paying $1,600 for clutch repair when it seems to be a documented issue is very PAINFUL when I have 10K easy miles on it.

Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately not.... The dealer I bought the bike from has even shut down, and did not log in prior complaints I had on the soft "feel" of the clutch.... I had to go over to NJ for a dealer repair.

Do you have any paperwork on old workorders to back-up your previous claims?

With the exception of an oil leak shortly after I purchased the bike, where the daeler had to trailer it back, no, it was a comment I made to the now defunct dealer during the last maintenance work....

Gosh, I would think you could get some kind of "goodwill" out of them. But, I guess you tried that.

I don't think BMW would be on my short list of "next motorcycle purchases" anymore!

Sorry to hear your problems but, as a BMW warranty advisor hear in the uk after your initiial 3 years manufacturers warranty has expired you could take an extended warranty cover but this will not be chaep as I have heard from other guys on the web sites, I might suggest thought that you contact BMW direct and give them your full details...lay it on thick about the problems you have encountered during your warranty period, suggest that you could meet them half way with the repair bill or even ask for some good will as you are a valued customer and you feel cheated that the dealer did not document anything, you may have to bend the truth a little but I did not say that

K1200RS clutch slipping

Call BMWNA's consumer helpline. You'll find the number in your owner's manual. If they refuse to help, tell them you're going to talk to your lawyer. You may still get no help, but it's worth a shot.
