K1200GT and radio installation

I have Zumo 550 installed in my K, I love it and I use it to listen music, but sometimes, just for short rides I don't want to put Zumo in my bike, or maybe my wife need it and so .... no Zumo, no music
Then, I like to listen FM radio or also sometimes is nice to change music from my mp3's stored in my Zumo, also I don't like to have external speakers.

I found and installed a nice radio Jensen JHD910, bellow you can read some specs, I installed also a small antenna, see my pics bellow:

Weather Alert automatically switches to WB mode when NOAA warning broadcast is received.

    Programmable station presets (12AM/18FM)

Audio to ears?

Just curious, but what's your headphone/speaker setup for listening to this radio or your Zumo?

TiMax

Thanks for posting the Jensen pictures.

Your post is the only one I've found with ANY owner info. I do have some questions about the radio. How's the sound quality? Have you hooked up speakers to the radio? I wouldn't be using the speakers while riding (I use ER6i earbuds) but I could see using the radio and speakers at my campsite. Please post more info. on the Jensen.

(how it mounts, would you buy again , pros and cons etc. , what antenna model and/or part number is it your using and more pictures)

Thanks again, John

Hello,

I don't use any speakers, I only use my Autocom intercom, maybe I plan to install some small, very small speakers, but I'm not sure

About installation, I don't use ampli output, I just use pre-ampli output connected to my Autocom, I was unable to found a good antenna here in Canada, so I ask my friend in Italy to send me small antenna from Italy

Sound quality is excellent, I don't need to use 100% volume, maybe only 70%, signal quality too is good, if you want I can take more pictures

I installed the same radio, but the antenna issue is giving me some grief. I bought the Jensen antenna and it requires a decent ground plane for counterpoise. I've spent many evenings combing through the net looking for a solution and have yet to come up with the perfect answer. I know the RT has an FM antenna, as do many Harleys, so apparently FM on a bike is not exactly uncommon, but installing an antenna that gets decent reception is an ongoing project. They do make "non ground plane" antennas for boats, and I bought one, but it's so big, it would look ridiculous on the bike so I took it back. TiMax's antenna is too small to be terribly effective so I question how well it would work in my area. From everything I've read, the stubby and mini antennas look great, but compromise performance, even with a large ground plane like the roof of a car. I'm getting to the point where I may have to fab some kind of bracket to create a decent counterpoise. But with respect to the Jensen unit, it works nicely.

Looks like a nice fit. Unit is not too small or large. What does a unit like that go for? and what other units did you consider if any?
