Low Seat

I have an ongoing upper back problem when I ride long distances. I have ordered a set of bar backs to see if that will help. Someone suggested the low seat as well to relocate my riding position. I am 5'9" with a 30 to 31 inch inseam. Has anyone tried the low seat? Does anyone have one for sale?

For which bike? Are you talking about the k12rs regular 'low' seat? I have an 03K12rs. The original seat sucked. It wasn't very comfortable and very slippery, especially for passenger. I wouldn't recommend it. I bought the stock GT seat for the interim. I plan on using the low seat as a pan for a new seat (russell). The GT is more comfortable and much less slippery. Good for average riding, not so for long trips. I'm 5'8" 32" inseam. Just my experience.

low seat

What I did was removed the rubber stops from uder the passenger seat to try it out , dropped the seat about 1" rode on it for a week or so , worked just fine, then when I was sure that is what I wqas looking for cut about 1/2" off the rubber and about 1/2" off the 2 plastic tabs from under the seat, now I can plant both feet on the ground, if the bike is level.

Upper back issue..

I had the same issue on my previous bike - a knot would form right between my shoulder blades at the base of my neck. It was so bad on my previous bike, I ultimately traded it in for the GT. With my new bike, I had the same problem (but to a much lesser extent) when when riding with the bars all the way up/back. Recently, I set the bars all the way down/forward and found that the back issue is all but gone. It seems counterintuitive and everyone's body geometry is different but you may want to try that before you add bar backs. For me, the bike handles better with the bars down too.

Nice idea. Should also apply to those who would use an aircushion seat (like the airhawk seat system) but for the accompanying increase in height.
