Tank Bag Recommendations

I did a search on tank bags and found a number of threads but nothing really definitive on favorites, nice features, etc. Even though I don't really want to put one on my GT I think I need one for a few cases. I'm looking for something that's not huge (expandable OK), mabe designed to hold a water bladder (CamelBak type thing) and waterproof or really reliable rain cover. Sounds like Chicane had one that did this but they're long gone now, so any other suggestions?

Big Mak Bags

Flip up, fill up, as water proof as you need short of submersion, all different sizes and accessories. No problems with pushing buttons tight, clear line of sight etc. Love mine.

Just did my searching last week. Though I haven't bought it yet I really like Marsee products. Their Corona mount keeps the bag off the tank, I dig it. Just google "Marsee bags" and they'll come up.

I've seen these and they look interesting. I have a Zumo 550 mounted on a TechMount handlebar bracket, do you think it would obscure the screen? Pics of the GPS mount are at the links below.

Dave, I just last weekend installed the SW-Motech "GS" tank bag. It was designed for the 1200GS but fits the GT perfectly.
It is 17 litres compact and expands to 24 litres expanded. It comes with a carry strap so it can be used as a back pack and also a good rain cover.
The SW-Motech bags come with connection system that mounts the bag to a ring that is mounted on the tank around the fuel cap. This means no straps or magnets and the bag doesnt actually sit on the tank, it is supported just above it thus protecting the duco.
There is no problem with space for the handlebars on full lock so no embarrasing horn going off.
The mounting ring can be purchased with a power supply so that you can power stuff like your ipod, phone or GPS from inside the bag.
I bought mine from twistedthrottle.com
Good Luck

I saw the Marsee bags at my local dealer. Nice products, and I liked the hard, clear top cover.

But I tried a few on my GT, and with my Suburban Machinery Bar Backs the bags tended to hit at full lock. I'd thought about moving the mount up a little to give more clearance, but it's molded into the bag's bottom.

Oh well.

Look here, 4th item on list. New, never used with bladder.

I have one for my K12S by Marsee. It's relatively small when it's zipped down, and it holds a lot if you need to expand it. The only squawk I have is that it's really not easy to get off and on (mainly on). I only use it for extended trips, though, so no big deal. And (duh) you do have to take it off to install a camera mount.

David, with your mount it wouldn't work too well as the Big Mak bag flips forward to fuel up. I used the Big Mak Eshelf for my Zumo and it works great. (Get the brackets any one who buys one)

http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products...sp?Item=BMA-SH

Puts the Zumo directly dead center and in line of sight so I don't really have to take my eyes of the road. It also allows the bag to flip forward with no problems. Here's a pic that shows it all.

Next thing is one of those Adaptiv TPX Radar detectors up on the shelf.

And one of the Mix-it 2 boxes for it and the Zumo. (I refuse to use bluetooth and talk to any one while I ride.)

Thanks for all the input, guys, it's very helpful! I'm narrowing down the options for sure. I think I'm leaning towards either the Chicane or the Engage that Pirate's Lair is selling. Either of those seem to meet most of my needs without getting in the way of how I have my GPS set up.

727cpt, I responded to your PM, thanks.
