Backfiring / hesitation

since my bike was new it has had a nasty hesitation under throttle load. A good example is steady cruising, and then a dose of heavy throttle, and it hesitates badly.

Yesterday I noticed it backfiring at least once in similar scenarios. I haven't had any software / airbox replacement.

Anyone else experience this?

Backfiring

ENG943;
I have an 07 with 21k miles and have had the backfiring issue since the bike was first started. It has gotten worse/improved with each software update. The problem is associated with fuel management that is also responsible for the hestiation that we experience. After all these miles I guess I have accepted it as part of the bike's personality, like the clutch squeal.
I have one specialist review the problem and he suggested that race filters and a new (after market) exhaust system would fix the problem of hestation, but the backfiring requires remapping. Hense, the problem will be resident until our dear factory can refine their injection requirements.
By the way replacing the airbox and idle control valve only affects "idle creep" problems. Seems to be a Rube Goldberg solution that has been typical of BMW.
Enjoy the ride and keep it safe. Hope to see you on the rode.

My service manager told me that the bikes are set to run very lean, that causes popping when you tap off under load, it is louder with the Remus

Which dealer services your bike and have you been happy with you choice?
