Help w-lock cylinder change in topcase

Sold my 12Rt
Keeping the 28 litre topcase for my 12GT

Anyone out there done this and is familiar with the best method to remove old lock cylinder?

Dealer seems terrified at the thought.

Thanks

I used this guide to do mine when I got the small and the large boxes off ebay. I used a dental pick instead of the paperclip though as it was a better fit and I had one hanging around

I hate it when that happens. What size hammer did you use?

When I got my bike I bought a 28l box as part of the deal. I then found that I couldn't fit my computer in the paniers like I could on the Kawasaki so I had to swap to the larger box.

Dealer didn't know how to change locks so I sent him the info in the link. He said it didn't work on the 28l box and ended up destroying it to get the lock out, at their cost. If I had known they were going to do that I would have kept both as I often wish I had the small one because it affects the bike in cross winds less.

Gave the same link to my dealer (BMW M/C of Ventura County) and he changed the locks on both the small and large top boxes off my RT. My dealer used a Snap-On SGA173BR Radiator Hose Pick in place of the screw driver/paper clip tool. He said he has a better feel with the home made tool.
