Question Selling my '06 GT . . . what next?

In a week or so, I'll be listing my GT in the Classifieds ... or maybe on eBay.
Obviously, I've been considering what my next bike should be.

My short list:
  • A new or slightly used Kaw Concours 14
  • A used GS
  • A used Harley VRod (No, really!)
I'd like to stay under $13K ... even less would be mo' better.

All suggestions considered and appreciated.

I reckon it all depends.............do you want something similiar to the GT, or something different. There's the C14, a good choice, or the GS, not as fast but it looks like a whole different type of fun. I think the prices on the C14 are dropping for some reason. I guess they aren't selling quite as well as they thought. I bet with a little shopping you could pick up a new C14 for under $13K OTD.

So, why sell the GT? Just keep it and get the GS.

I took a GS ADV out for a day. Have to say I really liked it, think I would use it more than GT however the 4k change price is being spent on a new kitchen so maybe next year You should take a GS for a day test run.

When out at MotoGP in Laguna Seca, I rode a GS for 4 days ... both this year, and last. I really REALLY had a blast. And the maintenance on those Boxers really makes it an attractive option to me.

I was thinking of selling my GT too, until recently. I was getting so P'd off with the jerky throttle / stalling issues that I have not been able to get resolved so far. Plus I've changed jobs so I'm not needing to travel long distances for work any more. The GT seemed a bit over the top for a 26 mile each way commute in heavy traffic Mon - Fri and weekend day trips.

I seriously considered the Triumph Sprint ST - lighter than the GT and a little more "sporty" (except for the horsepower), but when I looked at them for real they seemed so "plasticy" and cheaply built compared to the GT.

SWMBO's Ducati Monster is nice & light, but pretty underpowered after the GT. It's a lot of fun on the back roads, but I feel quite vulnerable on the freeway with it.

I came to the conclusion that I'd miss the solidity and power of the GT and the only other bike I can see that would fill it's shoes and perhaps suit me better now is the K1200S. Only problem is......I cant afford it!!

Good luck, and let us know what you get!

Bill.

Hi Joe,

I've seen the Concours 14 brand new for $10,800 and $11,400 recently. Both were at different dealers, were non-ABS and the dealers were located in small Missouri towns. I think if you search around your region you could find a great deal on a new one close to you.

Why have you decided to replace your GT with something else?

Concourse: (Similar to the GT, so why sell it?)
GS: I could see this.
VRod: Hmm What about the new Yammie VMAX?

Hey, Joe, if you really want a fun hooligan bike check out the Suzuki B-King. The heart and soul of a 'Busa without the fairing. A friend of mine bought one a while back and loves it! He traded his Duc 1098 in on it and has no regrets.
