Norway - 2008

Hi all,
Have just returned home from out 15-day trip to Norway! Amasing country!
Rode there through Germany - spent a night in West Berlin and replaced tyres in Hannover. Then took a ferry from Hirsthals/Denmark to Kristiansand/Norway. Then had 9 days of riding paradise The bikes were flawless, the views - breathtaking, the prices - skyhigh, emothions - overwhelming
Did not visit NordCape - too cold already there and did not want to. Had no time for Lofoten Islands and the Path of Trolls - left them for the next time. the Atlantic Road as well. But walked/or climbed/ to Priekestolen.
Herebelow are some pics - enjoy

I do not like riding with the side cases. Mainly because of the traffic here - I have to filter out of the city and the lanes became very tight here. then it became a habbit - to ride without them. And as we rode two bikes solo we carry enough things with us in the bags. But maybe next time I ride to Norway - I will carry the side cases becaus of the tent and sleeping bags I will take with me for sure - the tent gives more flexibility there as there are quite a few hotels.

Take care!

Doru,
come on! You are not far more than me from here! Yes, it takes time - 3 days took the way to Norway and the same back. Though we took a ferry from Stockholm/Sweden to Riga/Latvia and then rode via Vilnius/Lithuania and Minsk/Belorussia.
It's a must-do, imho. Just do not be in a hurry there - 250 km per day is more than enough, imho. To relax, to enjoy the scenery, to make stops for that. And it's better to avoid the main roads.

Take care!

Easyman,

THanks for the beautiful pictures. For sure I will also visit the Trollstigen and Preikestolen, together with the Geirangerfjorden and maybe even the Lofoten, maybe even next year. Did Norway last year (by car with the family) for the second time (Oslo, Kongsberg, Rjukan + Gaustatoppen and a brief view over the Hardangervidda). It really is a very beautiful country.

Grtz,
Erwin

Erwin,

the left pic in my second post was taken in Geiranger. from the exit to the North side.
We did Hardanger from Odda to Jondal(Rd550) then took ferry to the other side. Followed Rd7 to Steinsdalfossen and then E16 to Aurdal/via Voss/. The next morning did the mountain road from Aurdal to Laerdal-Fodnes, took ferry and rode part of Rd55 along Sognefjord eastwards. Then E15 and Rd63 to Geiranger. The next day reached ferry from Eidsdal and Rd650/E39 along Storfjorde, then south E39 to Volda-Stryn. Etc. Also Lysebotn from Kristiansand, then Stavanger(Rd44 along the coast). That was the beginning. And Rd569 from Modalen(E39) to Dale(E16) - one of the best& And, of course, Rd60 from Stryn to Byrkjelo then E39 to Moskog- turn to Rd13 to Sognefjord and again part of 55 to the west.
I am still riding there...

Take care!
