HELP! Bike dies when bars are straight

I'm stuck in Longview right now. With the bars turned left the bike starts, but when I turn the bars straight the bike dies. Pinched wire? Where? Will it hold if I can get it unpinched?

Check all the bar switches first. Kill switch, clutch lever switch, cycle the key on/off, I think you can see the connector to the key too.. plugged in tight.

With the battery cover off, cut any ty-wraps that may have cut into a wire. It happens a lot.

A loose single pin in a connector or a fractured wire are the most likely culprits

If its not EWS ing the antenna ring is OK.

Good Luck!

if I can start it with the bars to the left, would it be a kiil switch? It on dies after I turn the bars straight while it's running.

Kill switch or ignition switch. Can you turn the key "on" with the bars straight? If so, ignition switch is fine.

Hey mang, I called you back. Make sure the plugs going into the ignition switch are seated good. This is a known problem, especially after having the EWS replaced.

What was that middle thang?

I saw this probably too late to help. I agree with Grif, I had this same thing except it was a no start/no power, both plugs were loose under the ignition, and correct it was just after an EWS recall was done.

Sorry guys. I'm in a place with very limited Internet access.

I tried pushing all the plugs in and it didn't help. This morning, I had no dash lights when the bars were straight, but did not when the bars were turned left. The was NOT recently replaced.

The extended warranty I bought covers towing so tomorrow I will have it towed to Shreveport.

At least this happened here and not out in the middle of no where where I can't even get cell service

Try pulling OUT gently on the 2 different connectors to see if one is unseated.
I had driven mine a number of miles before mine pulled out. I reseated them, was SURE they both snapped in, and the next day ONE of them had pulled out again.I reseated that one and has been fine since then.

Really bad timing to come to Shreveport, they just lost their BMW tech/'mechanic, so we are looking at getting service in Little Rock most likely.

Ron, no longer works here.
