My New 09 GT vs 07 GT

Picked up my new 09 GT , Magnesium Beige, all the bells and whistles.

I have a 07 K1200GT also and here are the differences.

More bucks $22,000!

More low end right off the line with no flat spots in the power delivery. Not that my 07 was a dog in it's delivery of the juice, but it went from great to perfect.

Shifting is much smoother on the new ride, no more notchy klunk the 2007-2008's are known for.

and gone is that little whine of the clutch basket the new gen k1200GT has. ( I was told this was normal by every BMW service manager I asked).

my 49 ltr case fits perfect on the new bike, I just needed the lock re fit to the new key.

I even tried my Bill Mayer seats made for the 07 on the new 09 and they fit.

What I don't like is the pee-cup brake fluid holders and the vent on the side. (I chose the Magnesium color because the vent is less noticable).

Hope this helps and no the wife won't let me keep both! see my ad in classifieds. (less bucks to still have one of the finest rides around)

Sounds about like what I was thinking. Improvements, but not enough for me not to take the deal on a left-over 2008. The one thing I was curious/interested about is the reported "front end feel" improvements.

The numb front end feel of the "hassock" front end was one minus for the GT compared to my other bikes (overridden by other factors, though). So, an improvement in that would be welcomed.

Do you notice any difference?

There is a noticeable less mushy feel from the front when I push a corner hard on the 1300, but my biggest surprise came from the ESA2. When in sport mode it means sport mode , very tight and smooth. Much like my Hayabusa.

But if any one gets a new ride off the showroom floor watch the greasy tires. A good scuffing with 409 and a wire brush does wonders to keep you vertical.

The whole bike just feels a bit more "polished", and definitely easier to ride hard and fast. Whether that's worth the extra cash is really up to the individual and their wallet.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
